How do "Renegade" events work?
- "Renegade" events are the only guarenteed daily Diablo Clone hunting events. They are scheduled each day at 6pm or 7pm Eastern Standard or Daylight Time (EST/EDT). The sceduled time will be announced every hour during the day in the main Diablo Clone chat room called #USEast-Dclone. Once you earned a sufficient "trust" level on the irc.DiabloClone.org network, (earned by regularily participating in the main Diablo Clone chat room #USEast-Dclone, helping others, and there by establishing your "trust" level), you will be given access to participate in this private Diablo Clone hunting chat room. You can also be granted access to these events by being "vouched" for by voiced members or administrators of irc.DiabloClone.org. Voiced members have a + in front of their name in the nickname list. Administrators have a %, @, &, or ~ in front of their name in the nickname list. The administrators will always be located at the TOP of the nickname list followed by the voiced memebers.
- Renegades are NOT free! The price for the daily Renegade events are announced in the main Diablo Clone chat room #USEast-Dclone every hour. Typically the cost of a Renegade is 2 - 8 SOJs. If you have not been on long enough to have seen one of the announcements and have a question as to the payment amount that day, you can always send a private message to any chat room administrator that has a %, @, &, or ~ in front of their name in the nickname list. These administrators will always be located at the TOP of the nickname list.
- Shortly before a Renegade event takes place, the organizers of the "Renegade" event start asking for participants in the main Diablo Clone chat room #USEast-Dclone. You just need to message them (/msg ) telling them you would like to be part of the "Renegade" event and you will be invited to the private "Renegade" event chat room if you are a trusted member or have been vouched for.
- After enough participants are gathered (generally 10-14 ideally), the organizers pick an IP to target for the Diablo Clone hunt.
- Every participant will then be asked to confirm that they intend on participating in the Diablo Clone hunt by "Locking" themselves. This is simply done by typing !lock inside the private "Renegade" event chat room. Once the participant "Locks" they are given a special "Tag" to identify them as wanting to participate in the Diablo Clone hunt.
- Once everyone that wishes to participate has "Locked", the organizers will seal the room and kick out anyone that has not identified themselves as wanting to participate to ensure that any unwanted spies or leachers have been removed from the room.
- Through the use of IP finder robot programs (Bots), the IP that was picked is then searched for and found by these bots on a Softcore, Hell Difficulty game. This game is then referred to as the "Sell Game".
- At this point just before the Collection phase, all "Tags" are removed from the participants.
- The organizers then create a second game on a random IP address on a Softcore, Normal difficulty game which is called the "Collection Game". The organizers will then inform the participants of the collection game name and password and have each participant join the game and contribute their "Payment" of SOJs. As each participant contributes their SOJs, they are then given a "Tag" in the private "Renegade" event chat room to identify them as having contributed.
- Once all participants have contributed their "payment" of SOJs, anyone has has not been identified as paid will also be kicked from the private "Renegade" event chat room. Then all "Tags" are once again removed from the contributing participants.
- At this point, the chosen "Renegade IP" is then given to each participant as a private message. This "Renegade IP" is to be kept secret and should never be leaked by the participants. It should never be typed anywhere, in any other chat room, given to friends, or even typed in the private "Renegade" event chat room itself. This is to ensure that the "Renegade IP" stays secret ensuring that all the participants have the maximum chance of finding the most amount of games possible. Anyone that is caught leaking the "Renegade IP" will be permanently banned from the irc.DiabloClone.org network.
- Once the "Renegade IP" has been issued, each participant will be given 3 hours to search for as many games on the "Renegade IP" as possible. Sometimes the time will be extended if participants are having troubles finding games, but never less than 3 hours. There is usually no trouble finding a game on a non-camped IP.
- Once a participant has found a game on the "Renegade IP", they are required to identify themselves as having locked a "Renegade IP" game by typing !lock in the private "Renegade" event chat room. This will again "Tag" the participant so that others know who has found games and who has not. The reason for this is because some participants who use IP finder bots and, who have found as many games as they can hold, can then help those who have not yet found games and can easily identify them as they have not yet been "Tagged".
- If all "Renegade" event participants have "locked" their games, the "Renegade IP" is then sometimes given to the public. The public is then given 20-30 minutes, to try to find a game on the "Renegade IP" before the organizers "Walk" it. Since the public did not pay to help "Walk" the server, we do not need to give it out if we don't want, but we are all here to have fun and hope you respect our system.
